Greetings,

Welcome to the official website of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated┬«, Eta Iota Omega Chapter! We are honored to be one of more than 1,000 chapters established to ensure the perpetuity of the nation’s first sorority established and incorporated by African-American women. Our sorority was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, and 52 years later, 13 women had the vision and foresight to charter the Eta Iota Omega Chapter to carry out Alpha Kappa Alpha’s “service to all mankind” mission in Inkster, Michigan.

Since its chartering on February 6, 1960, the Eta Iota Omega Chapter has dedicated itself to uplifting the citizens of Inkster and Western Wayne County through innovative service programs. Through the years, we have awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to college-bound students, mentored hundreds of young ladies through the Sorrelles Club, distributed meals and food baskets to families in need, implemented programs to combat critical health issues, partnered with elected officials to address key political and civic issues, and hosted events such as the Anheuser-Busch “Great Kings and Queens of Africa” Exhibit to promote cultural awareness.

In addition to implementing signature chapter programs, Eta Iota Omega serves the Inkster community through the sorority’s current international platform “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service”. Under the leadership of our international president, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, we implement programs under the following target areas: HBCU for Life, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts and Global Impact. Service Builders Foundation, Incorporated, Eta Iota Omega’s 501(c) 3 affiliate, implements the fundraising initiatives that benefit our programs and scholarships.

We invite Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated members to join us on second Saturdays for our monthly membership meeting. The Eta Iota Omega chapter currently has a diverse, talented, service oriented, and sisterly membership of over 150, and we are always excited to welcome and embrace members who are seeking a chapter home. On behalf of the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, thank you for taking the time to visit our website. This website will take you on an exciting journey through our national and local history, chapter news, and upcoming events. Please visit frequently to remain abreast of opportunities to attend our upcoming events and community service projects. We hope to see you soon!
